4) Don’t Always Play It Safe
We’re not suggesting ignoring your common sense. Just don’t let the fear of doing or trying something new get the best of you. Eating, drinking, and doing as the locals do is a sure-fire way to have a fun and authentic vacation. Don’t be shy about trying the street food – it’s cheap and likely some of the best in Mexico. As long as the stalls look relatively clean, food is served hot, and there’s a crowd surrounding it, you’re probably okay to try it. If it’s your first time in Mexico, make sure to try more than the tacos. Mexican cuisine has plenty more to offer like, tortas (sandwiches), tamales (meat rolled with cornmeal dough and wrapped in corn husks), ceviche (raw seafood marinated in lime juice), and pozole (soup made from hominy and pork). Now is your chance to try authentic Mexican food – take advantage!
