10) Don’t Break the Law

It’s easy to let loose when you’re on vacation. That’s the whole point, isn’t it? Just don’t let the good times roll too far out of control. Mexico’s justice system is not as refined as others. Civil rights and liberties may not always be respected. An altercation with the local police is something to avoid. Stay alert, and steer clear of dangerous situations that could put you at risk. Avoid confrontations. If you do find yourself in an argument, de-escalate the situation. Swallowing your pride and walking away is better than a physical fight, which could land you in a Mexican jail. Drugs are also much easier to come by in Mexico. Just say no to anyone who approaches you regarding this subject. It could be a set-up with local police. It could also land you in hot water if you get caught with an illegal substance.
