8) Manitou Beach, Saskatchewan
The benefits of a freshwater beach are plentiful – no stinging eyes, no dry, frizzy hair, no accidental mouthful of salt-water – but the benefits of a saltwater beach deserve a mention too. Manitou Beach, located off the shores of Little Manitou Lake is known for the high salinity level of its waters meaning those who venture into the lake can enjoy being held in suspension by the water and bobbing around on the surface. Founded in 1905, Manitou Beach was once as popular with tourists as Jasper and Banff. Approximately 100km east of the city of Saskatoon, Manitou Beach is extra popular with tourists for its mineral spa, dance hall, golf course and park campground.
