As ridiculous as it may sound, going on vacation can be stressful. Especially if you have young children. Depending on how long you plan to be away, it may take you twice as long to get ready. It’s easy to be excited about vacation time when you’re at work. You tell yourself getting ready is as easy as throwing some clothes in a bag and off you go. The best way to get ready is to make a list of things that need to be taken care of. If you’re a homeowner, pet owner or have kid’s the list seems to grow and grow. It’s hard to think of everything, especially the things you may have forgotten until your plane begins to taxi onto the runway! Here are 11 things you should pay attention to when leaving for vacation.
1) Forget the Trash
Nobody wants to come home to a messy house after a nice relaxing vacation, so you clean up and order take out. One thing you don’t want to do is forget to take out the trash, especially if you live somewhere prone to fury intruders like mice, racoons or even bears who are not beyond breaking and entering if they smell something interesting. Insects are another likely result of leaving your trash in the house or even sitting out in the cans. You’re better off putting it to the curb no matter what. Arrange for a friend or neighbor to bring your garbage pails in while your away and check on your place for you, just in case. There’s nothing worse than coming home to an unexpected mess. So, make a check list before you leave, and be sure to put “take out the trash” at the top!
