2) Wasaga Beach, Ontario
Wasaga Beach has a very impressive claim to fame; it is the longest freshwater beach in the world. Located in Southern Ontario, at the end of Georgian Bay, Wasaga Beach is just a two hour drive from Toronto making it the weekend summer destination for weary Toronto city-folk. With a total of 14 kilometres of stunningly clean sandy beach, Wasaga Beach Provincial Park was the first park in Canada to be awarded the Blue Flag designation. Wasaga’s attractive boardwalk is popular with visitors and its many local restaurants and shops are bursting with activity, particularly during the summer months. The waters of Georgian Bay are inviting, even in the winter months, with safe swimming encouraged and a number of water sports on offer. Beach volleyball is, of course, obligatory.
