6) Cape Town, South Africa
Throughout the year, temperatures remain very comfortable, ranging between a high of 86 in the summer and a cooler 71 in the winter. It stays rather dry in the summer months, which run from November through March. People flock to the beaches during that time, and with such fine weather, who can blame them? Amazing views of the city and parklands can be seen from atop Table Mountain. A cableway runs to the top of the mountain, and some people will rappel back down. Not far from the city is Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was held in the prison for about 20 years. Tours of the prison facility are given by ex-convicts. If it’s shopping and entertainment you are looking for, the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront is the best place in town.
