Just off the east side of the Atlantic Ocean, you will find Lisbon, Portugal. With the Gulf Stream bringing its warmer temperatures, the city enjoys fine weather all year long. In the hottest month, which is July, the average is around 74, and the coldest month, January, gets down to an average of 52. November typically has the most rain. Lisbon is the capital of Portugal, so there are plenty of things to see in this city. One of the most famous sites is St. George’s Castle, which is located on the highest hill in Lisbon. This castle was used by the Romans first as a fortress, and then by the Visigoths and the Moors, who made it into a palace. From here, visitors are treated to beautiful views of both the city and the ocean. An area of the city called Belem offers many museums and monuments to spend the day exploring.
