6) Arcadia Dunes
Here is another great network of hiking and biking trails that takes you through dense forests to the breathtaking scenery of the dune bluffs of Lake Michigan. There are a number of different loops to the network, and you can opt for a 10-mile hike to Dry Hill Trail, or a short jaunt of less than a mile to “Old Baldy”. Regardless, you will be stunned by the natural beauty of the panoramic views of the surrounding 2,000 acres. The International Mountain Biking Association was responsible for the design of the trails which, not surprisingly, are ideal for cyclists and hikers. There are many magnificent sights to ponder, but one of the most awe inspiring is that from Old Baldy. There you can find unparalleled views of the coastal dunes and shoreline of Lake Michigan. During the summer months, there are guided hikes which are free.
