2) Chapel Falls Loop Trail
Here is a wonderful day hike for those people who are somewhat adventurous and keen to see the awe inspiring natural beauty that Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore has to offer. Near the town of Munising, the trail is just less than 10 miles (about 16km). The walk starts out moderately easy with a clearly defined path. After a few miles, however, you’ll need to take care of where you step, as much of the trail leaves you close to the edge of sandstone cliffs. The trail loops, with tremendous views of Pictured Rock cliffs and Grand Portal Point. But, all agree that the real delight is where the Lakeshore Trail and Chapel Rock meet. There you will find a solitary white pine resting on top of a sandstone column on the shores of Lake Superior. Once viewing it, you’ll understand why this trail is one of Michigan’s finest secret locations.
