8) Avoid Overusing Air Conditioning
As much as you may want to just blast the air conditioning as soon as you get into a car during the summertime, doing so can reduce your fuel economy by a very significant amount, perhaps even by 25%, according to Oak Ridge National Laboratory. In order to help get rid of the heat, you can leave your windows open as you begin to drive, which may generate a cooling breeze. If that isn’t enough, you could use the A/C, but not leave it on a high setting for an extended period of time. And if conditions really are bad enough that you cannot get by without air conditioning, be sure to check around for lower gas prices since you’ll need to fill up more regularly.
