Scotland is a country in the United Kingdom known for its natural wonders. The land has many mountainous areas, including Glencoe. The Mull of Galloway also has scenic cliffs with a lighthouse meant for taking in the sights. There are also many instances of the beauty of water in Scotland. Due to the mountainous terrain, there are plenty of areas which have waterfalls. At the Fairy Pools in Skye, waterfalls empty into clear aquamarine pools of water among the rocks, giving a magical appearance, as per the pools’ name. Scotland is also home to the world’s third largest whirlpool, which lies between some of the Scottish Isles. In addition to mountains and water, Scotland is well known for its picturesque glens. The Finnich Glen, for example, has moss coated valley walls and a river which appears to run red as it travels through the sandstone. Aside from all its natural wonders, Scotland is also home to castles and old villages, which impart their own charm on the country.
