11) Pump Your Own Gas
Gas is already known as being one of the more expensive aspects of car upkeep, since you consistently need to refill your tank to go far. But at gas pumps where full service is carried out for you, you may end up paying an additional 5-10%. As such, it is often a better deal to pump your own gas. When you do so, it is also important to keep in mind that unless your manual specifies, your car can likely function just as well on regular gas as on premium. Some vehicles do require premium gas, but for many cars, the functionality will be the same either way. Another fact to consider while pumping your own gas is that it is often better to not top off the tank, since some of that extra gas may go to waste if it overflows from heat expansion or the car being on an incline.
