2) Get Oil Changes When Actually Needed
Nobody would deny that cars need periodic oil changes to keep running smoothly. The oil acts as a lubricant in the car engine, and is necessary to prevent excessive wear. However, the old standard of needing an oil change every 3,000 miles may not be accurate for every car. In newer cars, engines are being built to be able to travel farther without having an oil change. It is therefore important to check your car manual to find out how long your particular model can go between oil changes. And when that time is up and you do need an oil change, it is better to look at multiple shops to find the best balance between price and quality, rather than going to the first convenient venue.
