6) Compton
Compton is one of only a couple of cities made famous in the late 80’s and early 90’s through rap artists who perpetuated the poverty and gang violence between east and west coast neighborhoods and gangs.
Thirty years later, Compton is as violent as ever — marking it as one of the most likely places to be murdered in California. With excessive poverty, a heavy social system of gang violence, and not enough police to enforce, or capture criminals — Compton looks as if its future is somewhat bleak.
The scariest thing about Compton’s violence is the number of murderers who are never found. Of all the murders in the Compton zip code, 59 percent of the killers are never found. This means criminals are still out on the streets and likely to be in situations where either they will kill again, or be killed in a violent crime or retaliation.
