9) Mississippi
It is rare to hear Mississippi on a list for vacation destinations, but there is a lot to miss if you donāt at least look. If you prefer to do your vacationing in the United States, you will find that Mississippi offers comparable prices to Hungary and Bulgaria. It also offers all the luxuries you are used to at home.Ā Depending upon where you look, the local culture will differ. Northern Mississippi will offer music and jazz, the south will offer the beaches, gambling and resorts, to the west is swamp, and throughout you will find the romantic south you may have always dreamed about. Mississippi is a hub for the southeast with New Orleans and Florida being within a few hoursā drive or less.Ā The cost of living is relatively low, as you can buy a fixer-upper for $40,000 to $50,000 or a nice 3-bedroom home for $80,000 throughout the state. Unless you live around Biloxi or Gulfport, maybe even Oxford, you will find it difficult to rent out. However, with a comfortable winter, and hot summer, you will definitely be able to take advantage of the weather and enjoy one of the more culturally diverse states in our country.
