Norfolk comes in as another larger city on the list with a population around 250,000 people. It is home to Old Dominion College, a public Virginia co-educational college with almost 25,000 students. The city of Norfolk has an almost endless number of monuments and historical sites to be toured by both visitors and residents alike. Festivals, shows and other community events are pretty regular, happening almost every weekend, and most are free or have a nominal fee to participate. Town Point Park is a local and visitor favorite for annual food fests as well as the ever popular outdoor concerts. Home to the oldest U.S. Naval port, living in Norfolk, VA will give individuals the opportunity to view and hop aboard the USS Wisconsin, a massive U.S. Navy battleship parked in the Norfolk Naval Station. Norfolk also has a decent medium sized airport that is easy and convenient to use.
