2) Clewiston Sugar Festival
A trip to Clewiston, Florida may be in order especially if you tend to have a sweet tooth. Join in the fun every April at the end of sugarcane harvest for the Clewiston Sugar Festival. Clewiston is an area known for cultivating sugar. In the 1950’s and 1960’s sugar plantations began springing up around the Clewiston area. This is why it is also known as “America’s Sweetest Town.” At the festival there is lots of music, crafts and plenty of sugary treats. If you have children traveling with you, keep in mind there is sugar everywhere you look and this can cause your children to lose their minds. You may just want to prepare yourself considering what is being offered at the festival. Since Clewiston is situated near Lake Okeechobee, this area also offers great freshwater fishing. This might be of interest to you if you are planning on spending more time in the area than initially intended.
