Flight attendants provide an essential service on air travel, which is to make sure passengers are safe. Attendants also are expected to assist in making the journey as comfortable as possible, and so will be responsible for addressing the immediate needs of passengers. The hours are variable, and you should expect to work on holidays and weekends, and be away from your home base regularly. Attendants on domestic flights are less likely to experience serious jetlag than those who work on international flights, who also have to contend with changes in their diets and customary habits. Airlines have minimum age and employment experience requirements, and many prefer hiring people who have college degrees.
