3) Orcas Island
Off the north west coast of Washington state lie the San Juan islands, the largest of which is called Orcas Island. These islands are filled with greenery, mountains and friendly villages and are always welcoming to visitors. The horse shoe shaped Orcas Island has the most to do out of all of them, with hiking and biking trails, secluded swimming spots and even opportunities to go horseback riding. These islands and their natural beauty almost provide too much to do, with everything linking back to establishing a strong connection with nature. Whale-watching is one of the most exciting activities available, and you may even encounter some marine life while out for a kayak paddle. Orcas Island boasts its own eclectic markets, with a range of local produce to choose from. Plays and concerts are organized regularly, and this out of the way island has something for everyone.
