7) Railtown 1897 State Historic Park
Take the family along for a ride through California’s Gold Country aboard a vintage train, complete with scenic views and a live, operating conductor. At Railtown 1897 you’ll find a collection of vintage steam trains, locomotives and rolling stock cars. Take a tour back in time as the self-guided tour takes you to the railways depot store, repair area and movie prop section. A guided tour of the roadhouse educates visitors on how the repairs were made on the trains housed in Jamestown, along with a brief history of the station. There are other nearby Gold Rush towns of interest to explore as well, including Columbia and Sonora.
