Rather petite compared to the huge amount of skiable terrain at, say, Lake Tahoe, Vail Ski Resort is nevertheless one of the most popular ski resorts in North America. Located in Colorado, Vail is a located between the Gore Mountain Range and the Sawatch Mountain Range. With an impressive skiable area of over 5,200 acres and seven bowls, Vail Ski Resort is the USA’s third largest single-mountain resort. Vail Ski Resort boasts 193 runs in total, the longest of which is Riva Ridge at 4 miles. Unlike other ski destinations built up from mining towns, Vail Town was built later to accompany the ski resort. Miles of slopes, perfectly manicured snow and brand new luxury hotels and spas don’t come cheap and many skiers may find themselves priced out of Vail for the time being.
