9) Breckenridge, Colorado
It’s not fair to talk about the other Colorado Ski resorts without giving a mention to Breckenridge. Breckenridge Ski Resort is located just west of the Continental Divide in Summit Country and has been in operation since the 1960s. One of the most visited ski resorts in the whole of North America year on year, Breckenridge has a skiable area of 2,900 acres and 155 runs, 36% of which are double black diamond ‘expert’ runs. As well as the great skiing, the historic district of Breckenridge is a huge tourist draw. With its roots in the 1859 gold rush, Breckenridge has its own brewery, distillery and even a gold-rush era saloon. A ski town through and through, most of the properties in Breckenridge have two entrances, one on main street and one facing the lift.
