3) Whitefish, Montana
If you’re skiing in a group with different abilities or are taking the family on a special ski trip then Whitefish might just be the right ski destination for you. An old-fashioned former railroad town, Whitefish is located near Glacier National Park in the Flathead National Park, Flathead County. Opened in the 1940s as ‘Big Mountain’ the Whitefish Mountain and its accompanying resort offer a Western-style, laid-back, family-friendly atmosphere. With around 3,000 acres of skiable area, 93 runs and a longest run of 3.3miles, Whitefish is not the biggest-hitter when it comes to the stats and there is plenty of first-time friendly terrain but for the experts the summit is only ever a high-speed quad ride away with ample pockets of steep and deep terrain.
