7) The Caribbean
Located in the Caribbean Sea, between North America, the Gulf of Mexico, and South America, this is an ideal cruise destination for seniors who want a tropical experience. Made up of over 700 islands, landmasses and reefs, the Caribbean has year round temperatures between 70 – 90F (20 – 30C). The more popular ports are the Bahamas, Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico; but Western Caribbean cruises include Honduras, Belize and Mexico. Any time of year is good, although you are advised to avoid hurricane season, between June and November. The islands forming the Lesser Antilles, including Martinique, St. Lucia and Barbados, will be particular favorites for seniors who want a tropical paradise, good food and great local wines. You can depart from east and west coast ports in the US; as well as southern ports in Texas and Louisiana.
