We’ve already mentioned the importance of having an unlocked smart phone if you’re planning on using your phone abroad, but there are a few other money-saving investments worth checking into before you go on vacation. If you’re traveling to a country that requires a visa, it’s often much cheaper to organize your visa before you go, rather than paying the premium rate for it to be processed when you arrive in the airport.
If you can visit the embassy in your own country in person and save on postage, even better. In many countries, English-language books are imported and therefore expensive. Invest in an e-reader so you can download the books you want and save on suitcase space.
In many countries, particularly in Asia, electronics and electronic accessories are cheap.
