If you are craving white sandy beaches, Destin might be the place for you. The summer months of June through August are peak tourist time and will be the most expensive. To get lower prices, but weather warm enough to enjoy soaking in the sun, consider April or May with the latter being ideal. Cheap prices can be had in the winter off-season also, if you enjoy the ambience of the ocean even when it’s colder. Destin also has a variety of restaurant choices from pricier seafood joints to casual inexpensive diners and cafes. Many hotels offer simple complimentary breakfasts. Another option is to rent a condo with a kitchen unit and cook your own meals. Henderson Beach State Park has a small entry fee, clean beaches and trails. There are also campgrounds with bathroom facilities.
