Savannah is a true southern coastal town with cobblestone streets and massive oak trees draped in Spanish moss. Long-time residents take pride in their town. Students from the Savannah College of Art & Design give it a quirky feel. The town overflows in March with tourists who come to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on River Street, but it can be budget friendly if you avoid festivals. January and February are the slow season and the best chance to book a historic bed & breakfast at super affordable prices. Hotels near the airport are also a cheaper option. Summer is a popular time to go, however August can be quite muggy. Spring and Fall offer the best weather. Although Savannah offers expensive, fine-dining options, thanks to the college crowd, you can be assured you will find some tasty affordable grub as well.
