With its rugged landscape, venomous snakes, giant spiders, and saltwater crocodiles, Australia is often jokingly referred to as the country where everything can kill you. The good news is that it’s worth the risk. Adventurous travelers have the option to explore the Great Barrier Reef in several ways. To experience it up close, sign up for a snorkeling or diving trip, some of which span several days, and include travel to remote parts of the reef and night diving. For a more eagle eye view, take a helicopter or seaplane tour over the reef. Australia is also a paradise for surfers. Bells Beach in Victoria, the Northern Beaches of New South Wales and Margaret River in Western Australia are just a few of the options. Surfers Point at Prevelly Park on Margaret River is so intense surfers can even be spotted wearing helmets.
