Peterborough is a small city of around 80,000 people, but by any standards, the city is one of the best places to live in Ontario. The small size of Peterborough alone is quite a big attraction since it implies tranquility, serenity, and peace. But Peterborough has got more. Speaking in terms of history, it was the first town in Canada to use electric street lights, and for this reason, Canadians know it by the nickname of “The Electric City.” However, the city was not satisfied with just energy running through its name. It wanted even more. So it built its whole economy on world-famous brands like Seimens, Rolls Royce, General Electric, Fisher Gauge, Bryston, Quaker Oats, and Pepsi Cola. Yes, the city is home to some of the biggest multi-national brands in the world! Its small population is no hurdle for its booming economy, huge job market, or excellent education. For all these reasons, Peterborough gets the 8th position in this list.
