4) Whaley House, Old Town San Diego
Dubbed the most haunted place in America by The Travel Channel, the Whaley House has as much history as it does ghost tales. Built by Thomas Whaley in 1857, the Greek Revival brick style was the first of its kind in the area. At the time, it cost $10,000 to build, which was quite a hefty sum for that time period. On May 25, 1960, it opened to the public as a museum. The cost to take a tour is still only $8. Though they do push the gift shop items quite a bit! There are 15 books available on the subject of ghost tales of the Whaley House. You can even buy a “Got Ghosts?” coffee mug. Photography is highly encouraged. You never know what you may capture as you snap away!
