According to AreaVibes, the crime rate is 60% higher in Watts than in the rest of Los Angeles. Annually, there are about 5,100 crimes per 100,000 people, including 1,148 violent crimes. AreaVibes gave Watts a Livability score of 48, which is much lower than the Los Angeles average of 61. They gave this neighborhood a low Livability score because of its high crime rate, its high unemployment rate, and its high cost of living. Overall, AreaVibes ranked Watts as the 79th best neighborhood to live in Los Angeles, putting it near the bottom of the list. When you’re in the City of Angels, be sure to steer clear of this neighborhood.
