9) Tina Turner Museum at Flagg Grove School – Brownsville (Nutbush)
Elvis is usually the first musician people think of when Tennessee is mentioned. After The King, there are the legions of country music stars that have come out of Nashville. There is one very deserving diva, a living legend in her own right, who should also be remembered. She is the Queen of Rock-N-Roll, Tina Turner. One place hasn’t forgotten. In the quiet little town where she grew up sits a museum dedicated to her life and music. Tina Turner was born in Nutbush, Tennessee, a place she made famous in her song Nutbush City Limits. The Tina Turner Museum at Flagg Grove School is the world’s only museum dedicated to this Rock-N-Roll giant. The museum is also the old elementary school Turner attended as a child. Inside are several displays showcasing Turner’s influence and impact on music’s history. During Brownsville Heritage Days, in September, the museum hosts tours where fans can meet, see Nutbush, learn about the early life of Tina Turner and celebrate her music.
