6) Santa Claus, Indiana

One of the most joyous and exciting parts about being a kid was Christmas and believing in Santa Claus. People get older, lose that childhood innocence and stop believing in Santa, which makes it so wonderful when we get to experience it again through our own children’s eyes. There is one town in Indiana that has embraced that feeling, perhaps more so than any other place in the world – a town called Santa Claus. The Christmas Spirit lives here year around. There are workshops where kids can see all sorts of wooden toys being made by Santa’s helpers, and a museum documenting how the town became known as Santa Claus. There is also plenty for adults to do from shopping to golf.
One last thing; kids can literally send letters to Santa Claus, as long as they’re addressed to the town. There’s still no reliable mail service to the North Pole, and Indiana is as good a place as any for Kris Kringle to pick up his mail.
