2) The Colgate Clock

Built by Colgate-Palmolive to celebrate their centennial anniversary in 1906, the original Colgate Clock was in New Jersey, where it faced Manhattan from across the Hudson River. This single facing clock, one of the world’s largest, was moved to Clarksville, Indiana, in 1924, when Colgate-Palmolive opened up operations there. The new factory was originally a state prison, and for a brief time, it operated as both. The clock came to rest on the top of the building where it now faces Louisville, Kentucky from across the Ohio River. Each hand weighs five hundred pounds, and the clock itself can be seen two miles away. The factory shut down in 2005, but the clock still stands. Developers are debating what will be done with the old factory, which casts an uncertain fate on the Indiana landmark. It’s doubtful that something so iconic would be demolished, but a future relocation isn’t out of the question.
