8) Greek Isles
Many islands in this Mediterranean Archipelago give you plenty of options for your winter getaway. With spectacular sunsets, amazing food and wild nightlife, you’re sure to enjoy this destination. 200 of the islands are inhabited, each offering unique sites and attractions. 25 islands have their own airports. All the large islands, and some of the small ones, are serviced by ferries. This is an option for last minute decisions, as the ferries don’t fill up as fast as flights do. Crete is an excellent choice for winter, as the temperatures are moderate year-round. Hydra is a popular island for tourists and full of locals as well. If you prefer a more relaxed atmosphere, Santorini is very quiet in winter. If you can’t decide where to go, take an Aegean Sea cruise. You’ll get to see many of the islands in one trip.
