Williamsburg is a great place for history lovers. It’s more affordable than many large cities, and even bigger savings can be had in the off season. Colonial Williamsburg has been described as Disney for history buffs, with people dressed in colonial gear offering colonial-style wares and goods. History buffs will also enjoy exploring Jamestown, which was settled back in 1607. There’s an archaeological site where the settlers lived, a reenactment museum, and the Yorktown Victory Center. The Jamestown Glasshouse continues to blow glass using tools and methods like it would have been done in the 1600s. Finally, the Yorktown Battlefield is the third component of the “Historic Triangle” and is the site of the 1781 surrender of British troops to General George Washington.
