10 Tips for Packing Light

8) Wear Your Bulkiest

If you’re in need of a jacket or other bulky item, the easiest way to travel light is to simply wear it. A jacket is something you can always carry over your arm if need be. It’s also a good idea if you tend to get chilly on a flight. The temperatures at 500 altitude feet can get cool, especially during colder months. Your jacket can therefore also serve as a blanket during the trip. Same goes for shoes. If you’re bringing more than one pair, wear the heavier of the two. You can tuck a pair of comfortable socks in your carry on and then put the bulky shoes in the overhead compartment for the trip. This is also helpful to make the most of legroom under the seat in front.
