10 Tips for Packing Light

2) Use Two Small Bags

Packing two small bags instead of one large one can accomplish two things. You can often fit as much stuff as a large bag, and you can carry them both on board your flight. That way you avoid time checking bags in at departure and you can be on your way upon arrival. It also avoids the risk of your luggage being lost if you’re carrying all your items with you. The two bags need not be identical in size. You could have one smaller bag like a backpack or over-sized purse for personal items and essentials and another for clothing. For a woman, a small purse tucked inside a carry-on bag is a way to bring your purse and still have 2 bags for your other travel essentials. Wearing a clothing item with secure pockets can also round out storage for those items you may need while inside the airport, such as tickets and identification.
