The town of Woodstock boasts a little known hidden gem for adventure seekers. Home to Maine Mineral Adventures in the western part of the state, you’ll be treated to your own genuine mining experience. There are 4 mines to venture through. They cater to everyone from beginner to advanced. The company created relationships with 4 local mines, allowing visitor access to hunt for the hidden treasures of their dreams. Many varieties of tourmaline, aquamarine, and smoky and rose quartz crystals are among the variety found in these mines. Visitors are permitted keep what they find. It’s recommended that mining adventurers bring water, proper footwear, suntan lotion and a hat as well as rain gear in case of inclement conditions. Weather permitting, they are open from May through October. They also offer educational tours on geology, minerals and the mining history of the area.
