Located in a borough of Delaware County, Swarthmore was founded in the late 19th century. Crime is extremely low in Swarthmore where the crime rate is a whopping 72 percent lower than the Pennsylvania average. High school graduation rates are 16 percent higher than the state average, a huge figure, and average household income for Swarthmore residents is over 100 percent higher than the average for those living in the rest of Pennsylvania. Tons of great amenities in the area including the beautiful Swarthmore Public Library make this borough an incredibly desirable place to live, a fact that has pushed the cost of living up to almost 40 percent more than the state average.
