6) Aer Lingus
Another low-cost carrier that made the list for one of the safest budget airline. Originally founded by the Irish Government in the 1930s, Aer Lingus has been in the skies for quite a while. Now flying internationally out of its Dublin hub, Aer Lingus services many, major U.S. cities, multiple destinations throughout Europe, and several in Africa. The in-flight service is bare-bones in the economy class for “short-haul” flights – meaning flights within Europe and to Africa. Food and beverage must be purchased and there is no in-flight entertainment. On flights to the U.S., one meal and non-alcoholic beverage comes complimentary. Perhaps these are the reasons Aer Lingus received a 4 out of 5 in the product ratings category. This aside, the airline received 7 out of 7 in safety, including it in 2017’s list for the safest airlines to fly with.
