In 2016 and 2017 Virgin America received the award for Best Low-Cost Carrier for the Americas. This US-based airline earned 7 out of 7 in safety and 5 out of 5 in product ratings. Virgin America is strictly a domestic carrier, servicing the east and west coasts of the United States. In Economy Class, every seat is equipped with power outlets and a personal media entertainment screen with choices of TV channels. Movies and Wi-Fi are additional. Some flights offer a beverage service, while others have snacks and beverages available to purchase. First-class receives free movies, snacks, and beverages. Besides being extremely affordable, Virgin American is among the few budget airlines that has passed the International Air Transport Association Operational Safety Audit (IOSA). To pass, airlines must comply with over 1,000 audits and safety requirements. Virgin America is also endorsed by the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA).
