6) Sturgis House

The Sturgis House is no ordinary house. It is a bed and breakfast located in East Liverpool, Ohio, with quite a history. Does the name or saying, “Pretty Boy Floyd” mean anything to you? You may be surprised to know that this was an actual person with a criminal past. The Sturgis House was once a funeral home and when the ‘on the run’ criminal was killed in Ohio, his body was sent to what was then known as the Sturgis Funeral Home. A death mask of Floyd was created here and remains in the house today. This may not mean much to you but if you are interested in homes with historical value, it might be of interest. In 1998, the beautiful Victorian mansion was converted into a lovely bed and breakfast. However, it also serves as somewhat of a museum since it still houses some of the funeral home’s old equipment and the death mask of “Pretty Boy Floyd”. Also on display at the Sturgis House are artifacts and newspaper articles, which discuss the takedown and death of Floyd.
