5) South River Vineyard
The owner of South River Vineyard purchased a church and established his boutique vineyard around it. Locals reference the winery as the ‘church winery’. The current owner spotted the church when he was headed home one day and noticed that it was abandoned. He inquired about it and once he was told that he was able to purchase it, he did just that. The church was built in 1892 and in order to keep the lovely church intact, the new owner had it moved to a new location, piece-by-piece. Today, the winery and church are situated in Harpersfield, Ohio and still has the original interior door, flooring, pews, wainscoting and stained glass windows. South River Vineyard serves as a lazy afternoon retreat for those passing through or stopping by in search of a quiet and relaxing respite.
