It’s hard to imagine a paradise like Bali actually being affordable, but this is exactly what makes westerners so crazy for this island. Exotic culture, gorgeous beaches, warm water, and world-class scuba diving and surfing have captured the hearts of many adventurous travelers. The young and fun can party into the wee hours of the night in Kuta, famous for its bars and nightclubs. On the other end of the spectrum, those who value a healthy heart and mind will feel right at home in Ubud, Bali’s most well-known yoga and meditation retreat area. Ocean-lovers will love Bali’s east coast; places like Amed, and Tulamban have excellent scuba diving. Two scuba dives and one-night’s accommodation can be as little as $90. Local meals cost between $2-$5, depending what you order and where. Beer is $1-$3 and comfortable 4-star hotels start below $20/night.
