6) Manchester Beach, Manchester State Park
Manchester Beach comprises over five miles of beach front, long stretches of rugged sand dunes and huge expanse of flat grasslands. Located in Manchester State Park, Manchester Beach is known for its high winds that may make sunbathing a bit of challenge during the wilder months but scatter the beach with beautiful driftwood. The beach stretches southward towards the historic Point Arena Lighthouse which was built in 1870 and is open for tours. Nearby Alder Creek and Bush Creek are famous spots for fishing steelhead trout and local walking trails lead visitors to atmospheric grasslands, ponds and bluffs that are home to a variety of coastal wildflowers and tundra swans.
