8) Oro Verde – Grand Cayman
For those interested in visiting one of these destinations, the Oro Verde, a boat sunken under the waves surrounding the Cayman Islands, is the perfect option. Oro Verde sunk in waters surrounding the islands in May of 1980 and has been left there ever since. Suspected of being used as a drug smuggling boat originating in Jamaica before it sank, the boat has quite a robust history. Now, the Oro Verde is used as a diving location for those interested. Coral has sprouted along the boat and many sea creatures have taken to calling the Oro Verde their home including angel fish, snappers and even a barracuda! The Oro Verde presents a great option to appreciate the beauty of abandoned settlements while participating in other activities.
