11) Kansas
Kansas: the state of wheat fields, open air, and less stressed out people than the majority of America. It appears that states that are inland experience less stress than those in coastal regions. It cannot be determined if this is due to a lower population density, a lower commute distances, the prevailing Midwestern mentality or a combination of all these factors. The Midwestern mentality is the courteous and polite attitude that is associated with the people in the middle of the country. People in this area are known to be hospitable to new people and appear relaxed in their everyday interactions. This relaxed and welcoming culture may be a contributing factor to the lowered stress in states like Kansas.
