3) Empire State Building
Located in the center of Mid-Manhattan, it’s currently the 9th tallest building in the world. From the observation decks of this historic landmark, you’ll be treated to a 360-degree view of the city and beyond. It’s been named the 7th wonder of the world by the American Society of Civil Engineers and has attracted 120 million visitors or nearly 3.6 million people a year! It’s a cultural landmark as well as a New York landmark, as it has been in more than 90 films, including North by Northwest, Annie Hall, Sleepless in Seattle, and of course, King Kong. Its total height is 1,250 feet of the building itself and 1,454 feet to the tip of the spire, which, during holidays and special occasions, is illuminated in various colors that can be seen from miles away in the surrounding areas. Lines to this amazing wonder can be rather lengthy so it’s best to arrive between 8am and 11am. Ticket purchases can be made in advance or on the day of arrival.
