7) Corpus Christi
The coastal city of Corpus Christi is a huge draw for tourists. North Beach has calm waters and lifeguards on duty much of the summer. It’s also where the Texas State Aquarium and the U.S.S. Lexington aircraft carrier and museum are located. North Packery Beach is the best place for surfers, wake-boarders, and kite-boarding. South Packery Channel Beach has the best fishing spot, or camp on the beach at Mustang Island State Park. If you need a break from the sun or experience rainy weather, check out the Art Museum of South Texas, or the Museum of Science & History. There is also an amusement park with bumper cars, arcade games, and miniature golfing, as well as a Schlitterbahn Riverpark and Resort, much like the one in New Braunfels. Padre Island isn’t far if you want to go horseback riding along the beach.
